HOW SOON THEY FORGET

New York was spared the massive destruction of hurricane Irene because God found some righteous saints whose effectual fervent prayers availed much (James 5:16). What is absolutely amazing is how soon people forget the devastation that could have happened if hurricane Irene had treated New York like how hurricane Katrina treated New Orleans and the other states.

Instead of people singing how “great is thy faithfulness Lord unto us”, they are busy complaining about what was closed, how they missed work for nothing, and what was cancelled, instead of just praising and thanking God for His grace and mercies which brought us through. How quickly they forget the effects of past hurricanes of that magnitude.

These are the same people who went to the supermarkets and every store they could find that sold flashlights, candles, battery’s, and water in abundance, that the regular shopper or customers were not able to get. These same people were worried, scared, and running for higher ground. Some even prayed and acknowledged that there is a God when they didn’t do so before the storm. Now that it is gone, they are back to their old sinful, hurtful, and dirty ways.

These are the folks that 2 Timothy 3:5 tells us that they, “having a form of Godliness, but denying the power there of; from such turn away”. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if New york and the other states don’t get their act together, the next time will not be so easy. When gay rights movements have more rights than the Church of the living God something is wrong. When gay marriages is top priority for law makers, then the reenactment of Sodom and Gomorrah is on its way (Genesis 19). How soon we seem to forget that story.

I am not bragging but I slept like a baby through the whole hurricane, because I know whom I believe in (2 Timothy 1:12); and He kept me in perfect peace, because my mind was on Him (Isaiah 26:3, Philippians 4:7). I was not fearful, because He did not give me a spirit of fear, but of love, power, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). If  God never slumbers and sleep (Psalm 121:3) what am I staying awake for?

PREPARATION

The time people spend preparing and watching the path of hurricane Irene you wish they would prepare like that for the coming of Jesus Christ. However, despite mans advance  skills and technology, they could not stop the hurricane. Which proves that God  is still  large and in charge, He is still in control, and the just shall live by faith.

What puzzled me is that people were praying against God’s will and binding the hurricane instead of praying for God to open the eyes of those who don’t recognize His existence and power ,so that their hearts will not stay hard and they can receive Him before it’s too late. We must realize that the natural man receives  not the things of the Spirit of God, because they are foolishness unto them, neither can they know them because they are spiritually discerned (1 Corinthians 2 : 14 ).

This hurricane was a message from God to His children, as a demonstration of His power and wrath. Yes, we are living in perilous times where people are lovers of themselves, ungrateful, unholy, blasphemers, and lovers of pleasures more than they love God. Most people have a form of godliness, yet they deny the power of it(2 Timothy 3:1-5 ).

Amos 4:6-12 shows us everything God did so that His children could return to him, now in the twenty-first century He showing us signs and wonders, for us to be prepared to meet Him. God’s salvation plan is still available for those who want it. He is still patiently waiting and giving people chances to accept and believe His ultimate plan for everlasting life through His only begotten son Jesus Christ (John 3:16-17).

Hebrews 2:1-3 says this: “We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away; For if the message spoken by angels was binding, and every violation, and disobedience received its just punishment; How shall we escape if we ignore such a great salvation?”(N I V).

How much hurricanes, natural disasters, tragedies and other things does God have to send before you accept His son Jesus Christ, and believe that God raised Him from the dead?    Just as you were busy preparing for the hurricane, why not prepare to meet God? What are you waiting for? Just like the hurricane was unstoppable, so will Jesus be unstoppable when God decides to send Him for His children.

GODS WILL

Why would anyone think that they can go against God’s plans and will. It is beyond my imagination. Some would love to believe that they can actually pray their way out of the inevitable, they fail to realize that God answers to no one and He does not take advise from anyone. He is the boss, the C.E.O of the whole world, the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last (Revelation 22:13). The buck stops with Him.

Most people seek their own will, with their secret or hidden agendas. Then they insert or include God in it afterwards instead of seeking and asking God about His will first. These are the people who inadvertently forget that Proverbs 3:6 distinctly tells us to acknowledge God in all our ways and He will direct our paths. Matthew 6:33 confirms it by telling us, to seek the Kingdom of God first and His righteousness and everything will be added. So why do we do the opposite of what God tells us to do and expect Him to help us.

Jesus is our perfect example to follow, while on earth He sought and consulted with God His father and at the end of His prayers He said, “Nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt”(Matthew 26:39). Jesus also shows us, in John 5:30 and John 6:38 that His plans, agendas, and wishes were secondary to God’s will, purpose, and plans. Another thing is  that, Jesus was the son of God, yet He was obedient, and submitted to God’s wishes to the bitter end on the cross(Philippians 2:8). But it was worth it, because He is seated at God’s right hand (Mark 16:19, 1 Peter 3:22), and intercedes on our behalf (Romans 8:34).

Listen it does not matter what you think or how you feel, it’s not our will, hopes, dreams or wishes it is what God has planned for us. He has big plans for every one of His children, according to Jeremiah 29:11. We must also remember that Isaiah 55:8-9 tells us that our thoughts, plans, and ways are not like God’s and the distance between our thoughts and His thoughts are far apart. Do you know what His plans and will is for you? Well  2 Peter 3:9 tells us,”The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

BE CAREFUL

“Be careful, be careful, love has got a hold on you like a thief in the night” was one of my favorite reggae songs by John Holt. This song is true in many ways and I have finally gotten the revelation to that song. It is actually telling us to be careful of the things that have a hold on us like a thief in the night; things that are evil, despicable and disgusting, things that originate from the devil.

Things done at nights are often misconstrued as love, but it is only one of many disguises the thief, who is the devil, uses to steal, kill, and destroy those who are lost (John 10:10). The thief has stolen so many hearts, killed so many hopes and dreams, and destroyed countless marriages and families. That is why the song says be careful, because the love you think you feel is the lust of the flesh, which is devil in disguise.

No, I am not condemning anyone, nor am I being holy, righteous, and sanctimonious. I used to be one of those people going down the wrong path, until I realized that it was a destructive path that only leads to hell. A path that allows the devil to use you as a pawn to destroy the lives of others, and yourself. A path that steers you further and further from the one and only true God of the universe. No I am not forcing God or Jesus on anyone, don’t curse the messenger, but be careful who is taking charge of your life.

Are you living dangerously? Who are you living for, is it God or the devil? We are living in the last days, which is perilous times. Listen, if Jesus appears in the blink of an eye, will you be ready to go with Him? Do you know where you are going? This is another opportunity for you to accept God’s personal gift of His only begotten son, Jesus Christ. WHO CONTROLS THE ECONOMY?

It infuriates me when children of God are worried about the economy, the decline of health care, and all the stress this world has to offer. Do you really know who makes and controls this universe, plus everything and everyone in it? Is worrying a testimony of your lack of faith and trust in the only true God? or is it an indication of which god you are serving?

As children of God, the things of this world should not trouble, bother, concern or worry us so much because the Bible tells us in Matthew 6:27-31,”Which of us by worrying can add one cubit to his stature…therefore do not worry.” Then 1 John 2:15-16 warns us to

love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Did not God’s word tell us to cast all our cares upon Him, because He cares for us ( 1 Peter 5:7; Psalm 55:22). Jesus tells us in Matthew 11:27-28, “All things have been delivered to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.” Here is the best part, “Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest”.

Now after hearing that why are we concerned and overwhelmed by a failing economy, when we know who is in control. God distinctly tells us that, He will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). Where in it have He said He will supply our needs according to the economy, the politicians, your job, or any earthly vessel. The Bible tells us faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17).

Whose words are you listening to? Gods or mans? Which God are you serving? The god of this world or the God of the whole universe? Who is your eternal father? Who is your supplier? Who are you looking to or at? The government, and its political system who can’t help you, because they are looking for help themselves. Have you forgotten God’s word and His promises?

Listen children of God, we are warned in 1 Timothy 4:1 that we are operating, and functioning in the latter days, where people are abandoning their faith and following deceptive spirits, and things taught by demons, are you one of them? Lets go back to singing songs like: “Oh! Lord my God, I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, thy power throughout the universe displayed. Have you consider the world Gods hands have made?”

Have you forgotten how great His faithfulness is? Morning by morning new mercies we see, all we ever needed His hands have provided. This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance. For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the savior of all men, especially of those who believe (1 Timothy 4:9-10). In verse fifteen(1 Timothy 4:15) we are told to meditate on God’s word and give ourselves totally and entirely to them so that our benefits or profits may appear to all.

Children of God consider your ways. Unbeliever consider your ways also. God sent His son Jesus Christ for a reason. To save us from destruction now and forever. LOST LOVE

“It’s better to have love and lost, than never to have loved at all” just does not make any sence to me. True love never dies, true love is never lost, true love always puts a smile on your face, and jump-starts your heart, so why put it in the lost department? Then again it depends on what your definition of what love is.

Disappointments, heartaches, and heart breaks have allowed us to lose sight and the true meaning of love. Most people fail to realize that true love is not one-sided, half-sided, or wrong sided, true love is not blind, therefore you will not be blindsided. Can you imagine if God loved like people love,or worse, put us in the lost column, or said it is better that they loved me and lost than to not have loved me at all, or the reverse.

God never put love in the lost department so why should we, as a matter of fact He told us in Jeremiah 31:3″Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love, therefore with loving kindness I have drawn you.” Those words make me feel special, make me feel loved, love that is sweeter than the honeycomb, no human being can’t give you that type of love, that type of love is never lost, and cannot die. God demonstrates true love to us by giving us His son (Jesus Christ).

John 3:16 tells us, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son (Jesus Christ)…” This tells us that true love is giving, so what are you giving? God’s proof of His love for us is giving us Jesus Christ, Jesus’ proof of His love for us is giving His life on the cross. So I ask again what are you giving as proof of your love? Listen it’s simple, Romans 12:1 tells us to present our bodies as living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God which is our reasonable service, this is your chance to give back to God.

It is only when you give to Him in every aspect of your being, and fiber that you will experience true love, not only from Him only, but from everyone else. 1 John 4:19 tells us we should love Him because He first love us. HISTORY

Most people will read history books, which informs us of past generations. They read autobiographies of people’s lives and believe every word they say, no one distorts or changes their stories, neither debate or discredit it. So why is it that people distort, debate, and discredit the Bible which is the best history book ever written? The Bible informs us of what God can do for those who love Him.

The Bible is the only book that speaks to people collectively, and individually. The only book that’s available in over four hundred languages, even though its original authors are of Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic descent; which includes Kings, priests, prophets, fishermen, and tax collectors just to name a few. It’s made up of  sixty-six books, divided into two sections, the old and new testaments. Both books reveal the awesomeness of the true and living God, His power, strength, and love for His children.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 tells us that, “All scripture is given by the inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be perfect, and throughly furnished unto all good works.” There is confirmation of this in the Old Testament that is found in Isaiah 59:21, Jeremiah 1:9, 2 Samuel 23:2-3. God’s only begotten son Jesus Christ affirms the inspiration in Matthew 5:18.

The New Testament was authenticated by Jesus Christ and the apostles (1 Corinthians 2:13; Galatians 1: 7-8) and more. The Bible has proven its accuracy, its truths, prophecies, and facts, so what you choose to believe will either send you to Heaven or hell. Deuteronomy 30:19 gives you two choices, Hebrews 4:12 tells us that God’s word is quick powerful and sharper than any two-edge sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and joints and marrow. No words in any other book in the world can do that, or generate such power. So which book are you going to believe? The Bible or the others? Hebrew 1:1-3 says,”God who at various times, and in various ways spoke in times past to the fathers by the prophets, has in those last days spoken by His son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;” The word of God says it, so that settles it. Now what is your decision? To go to God you must go through His son Jesus Christ.

Jesus is the only way, the truth, and the life no one goes to God without going through Him, John 14 : 6 tells us so. MAKE-OVER

Do you want a make-over? When you watch television shows that give people make-overs you become amazed at the before and after pictures of the individual. However you have to realize that the people, those professionals, can only change your appearance by applying make-up, giving you a new hair style and you getting some clothes. The one thing they can’t change, though, is your personality or how you think so technically speaking it’s just a partial make-over. Now, I know someone who can give you a complete makeover.

Many things can cause a persons features to change rapidly or dramatically and some of those things are bills, death, marriage, children, your job and the list continues. However, I am here to introduce you to the best make-over artist in the world. He doesn’t only work on the external part of your body but also internal part exactly where it counts the most. When he makes you over, your whole life will be complete and your beauty will radiate internally and externally. The best news that you can ever hear is that He has already paid for it.

Since you are so anxious to meet Him, without further delay, let me introduce him to you. He is Gods perfect gift and his one and only son Jesus Christ (John 3 :16). Come on don’t be disappointed. No earthly person can clean you up as much as He can. No one else can transform you internally and externally like He can. 2 Corinthians 5:17-18 says,

“Therefore, if  anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new; and all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ.”

The new living translation, tells us in Galatians 6:15 that it doesn’t make any difference whether we have been circumcised or not what counts is whether we really have been changed into new and different people. To get a complete makeover you must accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Then believe that God our Father sent Him to redeem, reclaim and renew our minds. We can only be redeemed through Jesus Christ because all of us have sinned and fallen short of Gods glory (Romans 3:23-24).

John 14:6 clearly shows us that, Jesus is the only way, the truth and the life and no one goes to God without going through Him because there is no other way or person. John 1:12 tells us this,

 “But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become sons of God, even to them that believe on His name”.

LOWER STANDARDS

Most of us at some point in our life lower our standards, dignity and morals to get ahead or to choose a mate. Most modernized churches have done so, which is contrary to the Bible. But no matter what, God never lowers His standards to accommodate us nor is He willing to accept less than the best from us. Most people think that because they go to church or are involved in church activities that they are, without a doubt, on their way to heaven.

But in Revelation 3: 16-17, God says this;

So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked

this is a powerful statement from the Lord which tells us that He will never lower His standards. So I ask you this, why should He? Isn’t it low enough?

Do you really think that you can keep lying, committing fornication, cheating and stealing then end up in heaven because of a good deed you did? Galatians 5:19-21 tells us that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Ephesians 2:8-9 says,”For by grace we are saved through faith not of ourselves, it is the gift of God not of works lest anyone should boast.”

In order for us to meet God’s standards, we must comply to Romans 12:1-2, which tells us to present our bodies as living sacrifices; holy and acceptable unto God which is our reasonable service and not to be conformed to this world but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. That we may prove what is that good, acceptable and the perfect will of God. Do you know what the penalty of sin is? The Bible states in Romans 6 :23 that,

“The wage of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

God’s gift is Jesus Christ, who is His only begotten son according to John 3:16. YOU ARE NOT IN CONTROL

Sometimes people who are in a position of authority like to use the phrase “It’s my way or the high way” which normally lets you know, by default, who is in control. Now, what I wonder is if God said “it’s my way or hell” would we still consider Him to be loving and kind? God, being the creator of all, has all the right in the world to use that terminology because He is in charge. Only God has the power of life and death in His hands.

In life, we must realize that even though we desire, want and pray for things if it is not in God’s will or plans, we will not get it. This is when  we need to realize that He is in control of everything. God is the C.E.O. of the entire world, master of the universe, therefore it is not what we want but what God wants for us. It’s not what we think but what God thinks. We need to come to an understanding that we do not have the final word, He does.

In Isaiah 55:8-9, God clearly lets us know that,”His thoughts are not our thoughts, neither are His ways like ours.” He then tells us that the distance is, “as far as the heavens are from the earth, that is how far apart our thoughts and ways are.” 1 Samuel 16:7 relates to this by saying, “The Lord does not see things as man sees it; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

Most of us are control freaks, yes we are all guilty of this, who have to be in control of everything and everyone.  However, Proverbs 16:1-9 tells us that we can make all the preparations we want but when it comes down to the end of the last quarter God has the final answer/say. A mans heart devises his way but only the Lord can direct his steps. It is when we commit our works unto the Lord that He establishs our thoughts. Proverbs 3 :5-6 tells us not to lean on our own understanding but to acknowledge Him in all our ways and once we acknowledge him he will direct us. We have to be able to trust Him just as much as we think we can trust our friends, spouse and parents.

We must lose control, we have to give it up, we need to relinquish it and put it all in Gods hands.  In order for us to be a success we must understand that when a mans ways please the Lord He makes even that mans enemies be at peace with him. It’s when you try to go against Gods plans that life throws you a curve ball and becomes difficult and overbearing. Then, with that curve ball being thrown in your direction, instead of being blessed you are stressed beyond words.

You will never be in control until you take Gods advice and cast all your burdens and cares onto him (Psalm 55:22 ; 1 Peter 5:7). You have to enjoy the peace that only He can give.
