Back then, like today; people are still rejecting and denying Jesus Christ, who is holy and just. He is also the way, the truth, the giver of everlasting life, and the only way to access God (John 14:6). Acts 3:15 shows us that Jesus is the prince of life, who was killed and raised from the dead so that we would have an opportunity for eternal life, access to God, and be redeemed from the curse of death.
Acts 3:14, 15 “But ye denied the Holy One and the Just and desired a murderer to be granted unto you; And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead ; whereof we are witnesses.”
Peter used an opportunity to speak to a crowd about who Jesus is and what He is to a dying world. Peter demonstrates his power in the name of Jesus by using the authority Jesus gives us to tread upon serpents and scorpions and all the power of the enemy(Luke 10:19). The enemy had prevented the men from making an honest living and reduced him to begging in order to survive, but that day he begged the right people, who did not meet his financial needs but gave him a choice, a chance and an opportunity to do the things he never had a chance to. Peter used that opportunity to let people see the miracle of healing and tell them that Jesus is the one who is behind it all and the One who gave it all to us. Most people believe better when they see things, that’s why Jesus told Thomas, blessed is he who does not see, yet believes. Acts 3:18 shows that everything that the prophets spoke that Christ would suffer was fulfilled.
Peter in Acts 3:19 warns us to repent and be converted that our sins may be blotted out. In Hebrews 2:3 we are told, “How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation.”
God does not repair our hearts, He replaces it as we see in Ezekiel 36:26; 2 Corinthians 5:17.
“A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.” Ezekiel 36:26
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17
