FOLLOW UP

In Acts 15 we see that the apostle Paul assisted others before he himself became the great preacher, teacher, evangelist and apostle that he was. What I love about Paul is that wherever he preached or taught and the people received and accepted Christ, he did a follow-up to make sure that they were okay and on the right path. Paul continued in confirming and strengthening the churches through visits and letters.

As ministers of the gospel of Jesus Christ we can’t take for granted that everyone is on one accord because there are so many false prophets and teachers who lure people away from God’s truth to the devils lies. Sadly, most new converts don’t drink enough milk of the Word in the early stages of their new birth to strengthen them as they grow, in order for them to be developed enough to receive the meat of the Word.

This is why the Bible encourages us in 2 Timothy 2:15 to study to show ourselves approved, a workman that need not be ashamed of God or His word and is able to divide it rightfully in the proper place revealing its truth. However, in verse 39 of Acts 15 we see a disagreement that leads to good, because it did not stop the desire and zeal of Paul, nor Barnabas in going their separate ways. Yet, when following the path of righteousness sometimes these things happen for the furtherance of the gospel, because, we may be hindering or hampering each others growth and progress. This incident between Paul and Barnabas proves that we can disagree on one thing, but agree on the truth that the Gospel must be preached regardless of our personal feelings. However, their calling was different; Barnabas was a pastor, but Paul was an apostle.

May people would say that Paul was callous and unforgiving when Mark chose to depart from them in the beginning, but Paul had the discernment of the Spirit to know that Mark was not ready to take on the task ahead until later on in 2 Timothy 4:11 when he requested him because he was seasoned in the meat of the Word. Which proves again that men look at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart, which never lies.

Companionship is the key to success in everything because Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 tells us that two are better than one. If one falls, one will lift the other up. A true help mate lifts you up when you fall. Remember also that two cannot walk unless they agree.

Where two or three are gathered in His name He is in the midst. Matthew 18:20

A SAD END FOR A BRILLIANT MAN

Not every case does the son turn out to be like the father; Solomon is proof of this. Once the Lord exposed David’s sin, David was on his knees seeking forgiveness, but Solomon, who started out seeking and acknowledging God for everything, strayed when he started to hang out with the wrong people. That’s why Psalm 1 says, “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the council of the ungodly,” because if you do, sooner or later you will be like them, and as the saying goes, “Birds of a feather flock together.”

It’s amazing that after all that God has done for us and after all the love He has poured out on us, that we would love anything or anyone above Him. When things are going good most people forget where they came from and the God they served to get to their destination. Once they get to their destination they leave Him behind. But God’s first commandment in Exodus 20 has not changed and will never change, “Thou shall have no other gods before or besides Me” is what He said. Therefore, if you love women more than Him, then you broke His first commandment and the wages of sin is death or loss of everything – body, health, spirit, wealth, and daily bread. Don’t mess or play with God.

Solomon, as brilliant as he was, allowed himself to be defeated and depleted by the enemies of God; he was actually sleeping with the enemy and that exposed and crippled him. Which proves that God will have nothing to do with you if you live in sin and refuse to change. God will warn you more than once and give you a chance to repent before His anger is kindled and He acts as 1 Kings 11:9 shows us.

If people or things are going to capture your heart so much that it takes you out of the will of God, then you must avoid them. Unfortunately, we all have weaknesses, but God says when we are weak that’s when He activates His strength in us so that we become strong. Solomon allowed the wrong spirits to penetrate God’s protective mechanism and it led to his down fall. Today we have no excuse because 1 Corinthians 10:13 tells us that God always provides an escape route for us to flee. Unfortunately, Solomon, as smart as he was, did not take it. By this he lost his father’s inheritance, his and his children’s inheritance. But God was still merciful because of David’s service and dedication to God.

God knows us so much after so many experiences with His children in the past that’s why, He said, all have sinned and fall short of God’s glory.

What a sad end for a brilliant man, when God gave him a chance to end well.

Romans 8:35 – 39 tells us nothing can separate us from the love of God. So it means Solomon chose to separate himself and it cost him.

Walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise (Ephesians 5:15)

(1 Corinthians 10:12) Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.

GOOD

James 1:17 tells us that every good and perfect gift comes from our heavenly Father and He never changes His mind, like how shadows change direction. This is just a confirmation and a reminder that God does not give us anything that’s not good, because in Genesis chapter one, after God created everything He said it was good. Which tells us that anything we receive that is not good was not from Him. Which means, if that man or woman you thought was a gift from God, turned out bad, then it was not a gift from God, because His gifts are good and perfect.

Another thing we should realize from God’s original plan is that everything He created that is good, including us, was not created to hurt or harm us; nor was anything created to cause us to fear, otherwise He would not have given us dominion over them all. That is why in 2 Timothy 1:7 it says, God did not give us a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind. So if Genesis 1:26 says that He gives us dominion and Matthew 16:19 and Luke 10:19 reminds of the fact that the power we lost through sin, Jesus came and gave it back to us. Once it has been restored to us it is good if we exercise it and take authority over the things that we should have had authority over a long time ago.

Therefore, we must look at why we always want the best of everything and for everything to be good and perfect. It’s because we are made in God’s image and likeness as Genesis 1:26 tells us which means we are just like our Father in heaven, we want everything to be good.

It is because of God that we have our creative ability, our architectural skills to create just by thinking, our inventive skills to invent things because God is like that and we are made in His image and likeness, so we want good things and everything we do should be good.

God created us good for us to be good – anything else is a product of the devil.

REJOICE

Sometimes the pressures of life get to us so much that we lose focus of who we are and whose we are. But in 1 Thessalonians 5:16 God tells us to rejoice at all times no matter what the situation is. There are many scriptures that tells us to rejoice, like Philippians 4:4 which says, “Rejoice in the Lord always.” In John 14:28 Jesus said, “If you love me, you would rejoice…”  Habakkuk 3:18 says no matter what, “Yet I will rejoice in the Lord. I will joy in the God of my salvation.” 1 Chronicles 16:10 says, “Let the heart of them rejoice who seek the Lord.” Psalm 5:11 says, “Let all that trust in God rejoice.” Then 1 Peter 1:8 says, “…rejoice with joy unspeakable.” All these scriptures tell us that God does not want His children to be unhappy or worried, but to rejoice.

Now to keep rejoicing means that you have to pray without ceasing. Think about it,  it’s the only way you can continue rejoicing because as Psalm 16:11 tells us,  in the presence of the Lord there is fullness of joy and at His right hand there are pleasures forevermore.  Psalm 91:1 tells us, “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most high, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” So to be happy you have to be in God’s presence and praying is the best way to be in His presence, because you are in a personal intimate relationship with Him. If you don’t talk to Him regularly, how do you expect Him to help you so that you can rejoice. It’s so important to remember what Ephesians 3:20 tells us, He is the only one who can do exceedingly and abundantly above all that we ask or think. And He is the only supplier of all our needs according to His riches in glory through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:13). When you know this, believe it, because it is then you will have reasons to rejoice.

Another way to rejoice is to give God thanks in all things, 1 Thessalonians 5:18 tells us this is His will in Christ Jesus concerning us. Thanksgiving shows appreciation for what He has done already, what He is doing now and what He is going to do. Prayer, supplication and thanksgiving makes your request known to God; don’t be anxious and you will experience the peace of God which surpasses all understanding Philippians 4:6.

Lord, help us to be more thankful so that we can show an attitude of gratitude. For all who have not received Jesus you should visit the Salvation Prayer Page.

“Giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Ephesians 5:20

“In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

1 THESSALONIANS 5:16-22

“Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. Quench not the Spirit. Despise not prophesyings. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil.”

ONE MEDIATOR

Some people like to depend on pastors, bishops, clergy’s etc. to hear from God and speak to God on their behalf, failing to realize that there is only one God and one mediator between God and man, the man Jesus Christ (1 Timothy 2:5) and verse 6 says, “he gave Himself as a ransom for all.” Then John 14:6 tells us that Jesus is the only way to God, the truth about God, and the only one who can give us eternal life. The most beautiful and gratifying thing about Jesus is that He did not leave us comfortless because He asked the heavenly Father to send the comforter to us (John 14:16).  But what I love is that even while He is sitting at the right hand of God, He is interceding for us. Here are a few verses to read about Jesus interceding for us: Romans 8:34, Hebrews 7:25 and 1 John 2:1. Romans 8:26-27 tells us that besides Jesus, the Holy Spirit intercedes for us. Therefore as believers in Christ we can boldly declare, Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world (1 John 4:5). We should have confidence that no matter what, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are acting as our lawyers and legally fighting for us on a daily basis. All we have to do is take care of our part which is to do as Romans 12:1-2 says and to remember that we can be more than conquerors through Christ as is seen Romans 8:37.

John 1:1-13 tells us who Jesus is before he came to earth and it also tells us of the power and authority He has. Colossians 1:16 is confirmation of this. Yet, He gave it all up to come down and be like man to show us that it is possible to be like Him and be obedient to God our Father. Jesus gives us clarity, reveals and sheds light on whom God is and who the devil is.

In verse 12 to 13 of John chapter 1, Jesus is the only one who makes it possible for us to become children of God again after Adam and Eve made their mistake of disobeying God. All it takes is receiving Jesus and believing that God raised Him up from the dead. This allows us to be born again of a spiritual rebirth that is not of blood, nor of flesh, nor of the will of man, but only of God.

Despite the futility of scholars and educators like Newton, Einstein, Hawking and Greene, in trying to figure out and explain the world and its existence the Bible is the only book that simplifies, explains and points to the God of the universe who is the Alpha and Omega – the beginning and the end. Isaiah 6:3, Psalm 72:19, Colossians 1:16 and John 1 are a few scriptures that point to God as the author and finisher of our faith in Him. No scientist, archeologist, or any other ‘gist’ can prove anything different, so they might as well believe those of this world who bring the good news of Jesus Christ.

A DAY OF REST

When God created the heavens and earth he rested on the seventh day, even though He did not need to recuperate from anything. Most people love to work on their day(s) off failing to realize that it is a God-given right to relax on that day. This is the reason why most people are stressed out, overburdened and tired, because they don’t know when it’s time to simply rest, relax and chill so that their body can get a break from the hustle and bustle of life; no wonder some people get sick and end up where they don’t want to or in situations they don’t want to be in.

For those who are children of God rest is different for us. It’s special, because we can use that time to spend with our heavenly Father where we glorify, praise and thank Him for the times He brought us over the mountains and obstacles of the past days. It is during our time of rest that we can seek His continuous guidance for the future days. The day of rest is to acknowledge God for what He has done and is going to do. In Hebrews 4:9-11 we see that if we don’t rest on that day it becomes disobedience to God’s word, laws, and will, as a result we open the door for the enemy to devour us. This is why so many people have fallen, because they have not gone boldly to the throne of grace to obtain mercy(Hebrews 4:16). In the Old Testament this day of rest was known as the Sabbath day. It is the same thing as a day of rest from your worldly duties to honor your Creator.

Yes, some people are forced to work on Sundays but, God didn’t choose a specific day between Saturday and Sunday to rest. Therefore, if you work on the days most people choose to worship, then for the day that you don’t have to work make it your day of rest and spend time with your heavenly Father in worship. There is no excuse. If you find time for other things you can find time for Him. If you don’t find time to acknowledge and seek the Lord, then that shows what you truly value in your life.

You can’t fool God, He never slumbers or sleeps as Psalm 121:4 shows us; and because He is God, He knows your thoughts and intents before you put them into action. Hebrews 4:12 tells us that His word is also quick and powerful. Creating heaven and earth is proof and a perfect example of how quick and powerful His word is. He said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

Pinch of Encouragement

Only when we abide in God  we have the privilege of experiencing joy to its fullest and peace that surpasses all understanding. Joy and peace that the world cannot give or take away.

UNFORGETTABLE REWARDS

Most people seek earthly rewards from people, which is given today and forgotten by tomorrow or it may last for a couple of weeks or months and then after a while it will be out of sight and out of mind. However, Godly rewards are unforgettable. For example, if you’ve accepted and believed in Jesus Christ and confessed and turned from your sins then your unforgettable reward is eternal life. Hebrews 11:6 tells us that God rewards those who diligently seek Him. When God rewards you they are memorable because it is at times when you can’t help yourself and the only other way out is by Him through Jesus Christ. That’s why Philippians 4:19 tells us that He will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory through Christ Jesus. James 1:17 points out that every reward that comes from God is good and perfect. Which means there is no earthly compensation. However, there is another side to the type of reward a person receives and how they receive it. Matthew 6:1-4 tell us that when we do things don’t do it to get earthly rewards because we will lose our heavenly rewards which are unforgettable. Mans rewards are nothing compared to the rewards God gives.

It is sad when someone gives you something and they are looking back to you for something in return. This means they didn’t give it from the heart, but with ulterior motives. But when you give without expecting anything from the person, then your heavenly Father rewards you. Most folks, when they get earthly rewards they treasure it until it becomes an idol. This is why God tells us in Matthew 6:19-24 to have heavenly rewards instead of earthly ones, because it is more beneficial and the value increases. With our savings account in heaven the value does not depreciate; nothing can damage, deface or change it, thieves can’t steal it, and the enemy has nothing to do with it.

Lord, please help us not to look at earthly prosperity, through the accumulation of things, as unforgettable. As you say in 2 Corinthians 2:9, our eyes hath not seen nor have ears heard, nor hath entered into the heart of man what the Lord has in store for those who love Him.

The offer to receive Christ into your heart is here. Go to the Salvation page at the top of this blog and follow the instructions. If you have turned away from God, He is waiting for you to turn back to Him. Why not rededicate yourself to Him? The next step is yours.

WHO IS THE WORD FROM?

When people preach you can tell if the message is from God or men because the Holy Spirit that’s inside of you will apply the belt of truth and have you leaping, praising and thanking God. When someone begs for an ‘Amen’ it means that even though the message is biblically orchestrated it lacks the guidance and prompting of the Holy Spirit.

In Galatians 1:11 and 12, Paul made it known that the gospel which is preached should not be from man, and you can’t receive it from man even though God uses man to teach it; the revelation is through Jesus Christ. Therefore, no man on earth should take the glory or praise for what God has done through His Son, Jesus Christ, and His Holy Spirit.

Truly anointed preachers don’t confer with flesh and blood; they talk to God through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit uses them and gives them utterance according to God’s will. No earthly teacher or preacher can reveal things to you unless they are led by the Holy Spirit. As Paul says in Galatians 1:15-16, anointed preachers are called when it pleases God. through His grace to reveal His Son – Jesus Christ to them; the same Jesus who is the way, the truth and the giver of eternal life, He is the only one who guarantees access to God. Don’t celebrate with people who try to take the glory and praise from God. Paul says in Galatians 1 verse 24, they glorified God in him. Why? Because he preached the same faith he once tried to destroy.

When you are the salt of the earth and your light shines, only God can get the glory. When you get, a car, house, and become debt free and you lack or want nothing only God — the supplier of all our needs according to His riches in glory through Christ Jesus, deserves the praise, glory, honor and thanks.

Thank You Lord for the opportunity to desire You more than the things of the world and for the opportunity of putting You first above everything and everyone, for seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and allowing You to add the rest. Remove the veils and cloth and reveal Your truth in the name of Jesus. Amen
