BLESSINGS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.

🕊️ 7 BLESSINGS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN EPHESIANS

“The Spirit’s Ministry in the Body of Christ”

📖 Key Text: Ephesians 1:13–14 KJV
“…after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance…”

🔰 INTRODUCTION — THE HOLY SPIRIT’S WORK IN THE DISPENSATION OF GRACE

Many believers think about the Holy Spirit primarily in terms of spectacular signs, physical manifestations, emotional experiences, or miracles. But when we come to Ephesians, one of Paul’s great doctrinal epistles concerning the Body of Christ, we discover a tremendous emphasis on the Spirit’s spiritual work in and for the believer.

From a Dispensational perspective, we must rightly divide Israel’s prophetic program from the Mystery revealed through Paul.
📖 Ephesians 3:2–3 speaks of “the dispensation of the grace of God” and revelation of “the mystery.”
The Holy Spirit is not merely someone we seek for an emotional experience. Every saved member of the Body of Christ has a relationship with the Spirit because the believer has been sealed by Him.

Our seven truths will all begin with S:
SEALED → STRENGTHENED → SUPPLIED ACCESS → SATURATED → SECURED → SPIRIT-FILLED → SWORD-EQUIPPED

1️⃣ SEALED BY THE SPIRIT
📖 Ephesians 1:13–14
“…after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise.”
The first great truth is security.
Notice Paul’s order:
HEARD → BELIEVED → SEALED
The sealing is not presented as a reward for reaching a higher spiritual level. It belongs to the believer’s position in Christ.

🔹 A. SALVATION PRECEDES THE SEALING
📖 Ephesians 1:13
They heard:
“the gospel of your salvation”
and after believing, they were sealed.
The saving Gospel Paul preached is summarized in:
📖 1 Corinthians 15:1–4
Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day.

🔹 B. SPIRIT PROVIDES THE SEAL
📖 Ephesians 1:13
The Holy Spirit Himself is God’s seal upon the believer.
The believer does not continually become “unsealed” and “resealed” every time he succeeds or fails spiritually.

🔹 C. SECURITY CONTINUES UNTIL REDEMPTION
📖 Ephesians 4:30
“…whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.”
That phrase is powerful:
“UNTO THE DAY OF REDEMPTION.”
Our security rests in God’s work, not our ability to preserve ourselves.
🔥 YOU ARE NOT HOLDING THE SEAL—GOD HAS SEALED YOU!

2️⃣ STRENGTHENED BY THE SPIRIT
📖 Ephesians 3:16
“…to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man.”
A small correction to the poster is helpful here: Ephesians 1:15–23 is Paul’s prayer for spiritual wisdom and understanding, while Ephesians 3:16 explicitly identifies strengthening “by his Spirit.”
The Spirit’s strength operates in the inner man.

🔹 A. STRENGTH FOR THE INNER MAN
📖 Ephesians 3:16
Christian strength is not merely physical strength.
Our outward circumstances can be difficult while our inner man becomes stronger through sound doctrine.
Compare:
📖 2 Corinthians 4:16
“…the inward man is renewed day by day.”

🔹 B. STRENGTH THROUGH SOUND WORDS
📖 2 Timothy 1:13–14
Paul tells Timothy to hold fast:
“the form of sound words”
and connects keeping the committed truth with:
“the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.”
The Spirit does not lead us contrary to the written Word.

🔹 C. STRENGTH FOR STEADFASTNESS
📖 Ephesians 6:10
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.”
The Christian life is not:
“I am strong enough.”
It is:
“I AM STRONG IN THE LORD.”
🔥 GOD MAY NOT REMOVE EVERY PRESSURE, BUT HIS TRUTH CAN STRENGTHEN THE INNER MAN THROUGH THE PRESSURE.

3️⃣ SUPPLIED ACCESS BY THE SPIRIT
📖 Ephesians 2:18
“For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.”
This is one of the clearest Pauline verses showing the distinct working of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
THROUGH CHRIST → BY ONE SPIRIT → UNTO THE FATHER

🔹 A. ACCESS THROUGH CHRIST
📖 Ephesians 2:18
Our access is not through religious merit.
Christ accomplished reconciliation through His cross.
📖 Ephesians 2:16
“…that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross…”

🔹 B. ACCESS BY ONE SPIRIT
📖 Ephesians 2:18
Every member of the Body has the same spiritual access.
There is no elite Christian class possessing greater access to God because of titles, ceremonies, or religious rank.

🔹 C. ACCESS UNTO THE FATHER
📖 Ephesians 3:12
“In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.”
The believer approaches God based upon his position in Christ.
🔥 YOU DON’T NEED AN EARTHLY PRIEST TO GIVE YOU ACCESS TO GOD—YOU ALREADY HAVE ACCESS IN CHRIST BY THE SPIRIT.

4️⃣ SATURATED WITH THE SPIRIT
📖 Ephesians 5:18
“…but be filled with the Spirit.”
Here we need another clarification regarding the graphic: Ephesians 3:16–19 concerns strengthening in the inner man and being filled with the fulness of God; Ephesians 5:18 explicitly commands believers to “be filled with the Spirit.”

🔹 A. SUBMIT TO SPIRITUAL TRUTH
📖 Ephesians 5:18
Being filled with the Spirit should not be reduced to losing self-control or displaying spectacular behavior.
Compare Paul’s parallel passage:
📖 Colossians 3:16
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly…”
The Spirit-filled life and the Word-filled life produce closely related results.

🔹 B. SPEAK WITH SPIRITUAL GRATITUDE
📖 Ephesians 5:19
“Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs…”
Spirit-filled living affects our speech and worship.

🔹 C. SHOW SPIRITUAL THANKFULNESS
📖 Ephesians 5:20
“Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father…”
The Spirit-filled believer becomes increasingly characterized by gratitude rather than constant complaining.
🔥 TO BE SPIRIT-FILLED IS NOT TO HAVE LESS CONTROL—IT IS TO HAVE YOUR LIFE INCREASINGLY GOVERNED BY GOD’S TRUTH.

5️⃣ SECURED AND GUARDED BY THE SPIRIT
📖 Ephesians 4:30
“And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.”
This verse contains both security and responsibility.
Paul does not say:
“Do not grieve the Spirit or He will leave you.”
Instead:
Do not grieve Him because you have been sealed unto the day of redemption.

🔹 A. GUARDED IN POSITION
📖 Ephesians 4:30
Our standing in Christ is secure.
Our walk should increasingly agree with that standing.

🔹 B. GRIEVING IS POSSIBLE
📖 Ephesians 4:30–31
Paul immediately mentions:
“bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking…”
A sealed believer can still walk carnally.
Security is never permission for sinful living.

🔹 C. GRACE SHOULD GOVERN OUR CONDUCT
📖 Ephesians 4:32
“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another…”
Why forgive?
“…even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”
Notice the Grace pattern:
We do not forgive TO GET forgiven.
We forgive BECAUSE God has forgiven us in Christ.
🔥 GRACE DOES NOT SAY, “SIN DOESN’T MATTER.” GRACE GIVES US A GREATER REASON TO WALK WORTHY.

6️⃣ SPIRIT-FILLED IN OUR WALK
📖 Ephesians 5:18
Rather than saying the Spirit “controls us” as though believers become passive robots, Paul’s wording is better:
“BE FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT.”
The believer remains responsible to yield to sound doctrine and walk accordingly.

🔹 A. SPIRITUAL WALK
📖 Galatians 5:16
“Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.”
We still possess flesh, but we are not obligated to obey it.

🔹 B. SPIRITUAL FRUIT
📖 Galatians 5:22–23
Paul identifies:
“love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance…”
The evidence of spiritual maturity is not merely excitement in a meeting.
It is transformed character.

🔹 C. SPIRITUAL SERVICE
📖 Philippians 3:3
Paul describes believers as those who:
“worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.”
That is Grace living:
CHRIST-CONFIDENCE, NOT FLESH-CONFIDENCE.
🔥 THE HOLY SPIRIT DOES NOT MAGNIFY OUR FLESH—HE DIRECTS OUR WALK TOWARD CHRIST.

7️⃣ SWORD-EQUIPPED BY THE SPIRIT
📖 Ephesians 6:17
“…the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
The Christian’s spiritual warfare requires truth.
Satan’s battlefield involves deception, error, false doctrine, temptation, and corrupted thinking
Therefore, God gives us His Word.

🔹 A. STUDY THE WORD
📖 2 Timothy 2:15
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God… rightly dividing the word of truth.”
We must not merely read Scripture—we must understand its dispensational distinctions.
Things that differ must not be confused.

🔹 B. STAND IN THE WORD
📖 Ephesians 6:13–14
Paul repeatedly emphasizes standing:
“…having done all, to stand.”
Our defense is not human philosophy or emotional experience.
We stand upon God’s revealed truth.

🔹 C. SPEAK THE WORD
📖 Ephesians 6:19
Paul asks for prayer:
“…that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel.”
The sword is not merely for private study.
Truth must be proclaimed.
🔥 A BIBLE CLOSED ON THE SHELF CANNOT SHARPEN THE BELIEVER’S UNDERSTANDING. OPEN IT. STUDY IT. RIGHTLY DIVIDE IT. PROCLAIM IT.

🏁 CONCLUSION — THE SPIRIT’S MINISTRY IS GREATER THAN AN EMOTIONAL EXPERIENCE

Ephesians presents a rich picture of the Holy Spirit’s work in the believer.
The Spirit is not merely associated with a moment in a church service.
His ministry touches our:
Salvation.
Security.
Strength.
Access.
Understanding.
Walk.
Worship.
Warfare.

And all of this centers upon what God has made us in Christ.
📖 Ephesians 1:3
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.”
The emphasis is not:
“CHASE ANOTHER BLESSING.”
It is:
“UNDERSTAND THE SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS GOD HAS ALREADY GIVEN YOU IN CHRIST.”

📣 CALL TO ACTION — THREE “W’s”

🔹 WALK IN THE SPIRIT
📖 Galatians 5:16
Do not allow the flesh to govern your daily decisions. Allow sound doctrine to renew your thinking and shape your conduct.

🔹 WORD IN YOUR HEART
📖 Colossians 3:16
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly…”
Fill your mind with Pauline truth concerning who you are in Christ.

🔹 WITNESS WITH BOLDNESS
📖 Ephesians 6:19
Take the Gospel entrusted to Paul and make it known:
📖 1 Corinthians 15:1–4
Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day.
