FEAR NOT; BE STRONG

Defeating Discouragement

“Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee”.
(Deuteronomy 31:6 KJV).

“And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: BUT DAVID ENCOURAGED HIMSELF IN THE LORD HIS GOD”.(1 Samuel 30:6 KJV).

“The Lord is the One Who will be before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you or forsake you. Do not be afraid or discouraged.”
(Deuteronomy 31:8)

“I have commanded you. Be strong and courageous! Don’t tremble or be terrified, because the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)

“I have told you this so that My peace will be with you. In the world you will have trouble. But cheer up! I have overcome the world.”
(John 16:33)

“Do not be afraid, because I have reclaimed you. I have called you by name; you are Mine. When you go through the sea, I am with you. When you go through rivers, they will not sweep you away. When you walk through fire, you will not be burned, and the flames will not harm you.” (Isaiah 43:1-2)

“Be strong, all who wait with hope for the Lord, and let your heart be courageous.”
(Psalm 31:24)

“Turn your burdens over to the Lord, and He will take care of you. He will never let the righteous person stumble.” (Psalm 55:22)

“My God will richly fill your every need in a glorious way through Christ Jesus.”
(Philippians 4:19)

When we fail to meet the expectations of others(or, for that matter, the expectations that we have for ourselves), we may be tempted to abandon hope. Thankfully, on those cloudy days when our strength is sapped and out faith is shakened, there exists source from which we can draw courage and wisdom. That source is God.
When we seek to form a more intimate and dynamic relationship with our Creator, He renews our spirits and restores our souls. God’s promise is made clear below in Isaiah 40:31:
“Yet, the strength of those who wait with hope on the Lord will be renewed. They will soar on wings like eagles. They will run and won’t become weary. They will walk and won’t grow tired ” And upon this promise we can—and should–depend.

Let us pray:
Dear Lord, when I am discouraged, give me perspective and faith. When I am weak, give me strength. When I am fearful, give me courage for the day ahead. I will trust in Your promises, Father, and I will live with the assurance that You are with me not only for the day, but also throughout all eternity. IN THE MIGHTY NAME OF JESUS CHRIST OF NAZARETH. AMEN.
