As christians,we should strive, desire, and crave to be perfect. Why? Because,Matthew 5:48 says,” Be ye,therefore, perfect, even as your Father, who is in heaven,is perfect”. How do we strive for perfection,Philippians 3:7-14 tells us,”But what things were gain to me,those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus,my Lord;for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung/refuse,that I may win Christ, and br found in Him,not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law,but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith. That I may know Him,and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His suffering, being made comfortable unto His death. Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect, but I follow after,if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren,I count not myself to have apprehended; but this one thing I do,forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus”. So to strive for perfection you must simple, forget your past, once you confess and accept and believe in Jesus Christ,God forgives you,and Romans 8:1 says,There is therefore, now,no condemnation to them who are in Christ Jesus ,who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. So as long as you allow the Holy Spirit to lead and direct you, your quest for perfection is in order. James 1:2-4 gives us a different view on perfection,it says,” My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing this, that the testing of your faith worketh patience;but let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, lacking nothing”. However,if you don’t know God,nor His Son Jesus Christ, who is our perfect example of perfection, then you will never be perfect.
