People like to refute and dispute the word of God, but it’s either you believe or you don’t. Either way, you will come to know the truth and it will set you free; to love God through Christ Jesus and what He has done to redeem and restore us into right relationship and rightstanding with God. The question is, why would anyone make up a story about Jesus Christ over all these years? Why would anyone want to lie about a gruesome story like that if it was not true?
The devil is the only liar and he has hired a few people to dispute and refute Jesus’ story because he has no chance of ever being in right standing with God. Jesus’ birth, death and resurrection sealed the devil’s fate and made us more than conquerors. Jesus guarantees our final destination in heaven with Him, instead of in hell with the devil. As a song says, “Up from the grave He arose with a mighty triumph over his foes; He arose a victor from the dark domain, and he lives forever with His saints to reign.” Hallelujah, Christ arose! Jesus is not a myth, fairytale or some fictional character out of our imagination. He is the real deal, the only begotten Son of God, who cannot be replaced or duplicated.
In the court system they believe that if there is one eyewitness, that is good; and if there are three, the case is stronger. In Jesus’ case, to prove that He died and rose again, 1 Corinthians 15:5-6 tells us that He was seen again by Cephas, then the twelve disciples. So far, the number of witnesses is thirteen above the three needed in the court of law to convict or convince. To make the evidence of Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection case stronger, God our attorney provided five hundred more brethren at once to attest to the fact that Jesus is real. Making the total count five hundred and thirteen witnesses, not to mention the ones who were not documented or recorded.
“And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.” 1 Corinthians 15:5-6
In John 20:29, it tells us those who were not eye witnesses to Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection are blessed. Then Romans 10:5-11 tells us salvation will be yours if you trust Christ. The emphasis is in verse 9, which tells us that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For more information on salvation go to the Salvation Page at the top of this blog and read the instructions.
“For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them. But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:) Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.” Romans 10:5-11
