Most folks, after they have been convicted their whole lifestyle changes. For example, being convicted and going to prison in society takes away your freedom. However, when the Holy Spirit convicts you it gives you freedom and liberates you. What a difference or contrast between the world’s way and God’s way. In John 4:29 after the woman at the well had an encounter with Jesus, she was convicted to change; which liberated her so much so that she couldn’t contain herself. She felt so free she wanted others to experience the joy and freedom she felt, so she invited others to come see a man who knows all things.

If most people would see God’s omnipresence and omniscience would they continue to do wrong? If the veil of darkness is lifted and they choose to remain in darkness then there is nothing anyone can do because the fact is you can’t hide anything from God. He knows your past, present and future, and He knew you from before you were born as Jeremiah 1:5 shows us. As believers we all should be excited, willing and able to introduce others to Jesus who saves us from the curse of death.

Once you taste and see that the Lord is good as Psalm 34:8 tells us then we will never go back to our old lifestyle and as 2 Corinthians 5:17 and Galatians 6:15 tells us old things will pass away and no longer interest us; everything is new and of God. Once we taste and see how good God is we will follow Romans 12:1-2 and present our bodies as a living sacrifice that is holy and acceptable unto God. Once you taste and see as Psalm 119:103 says, His words will be so sweet to your taste buds that you will have a desire for more and continue wanting more. Jesus told His disciples in John 4:32 that He had food to eat of which they did not know because they didn’t understand that once you taste and see that God is good (and you do His will) you won’t hunger for physical food because you are filled up with spiritual food that is far better because it is fulfilling and lasting.

Your testimony could save someone as John 4:39 shows us. Tell someone how God is good to you because you are alive. Encourage them to not only believe in Jesus, but to confess Him as Lord and Savior. Refer to the Salvation page for more information on leading someone to Christ.

Romans 12:2 tells us not to be conformed to this world but to be transformed by the renewing of our mind. It’s so amazing that before we have an encounter with Jesus our goals in life was to get an education, get a job, get rich, get married, have children and the works, but when we have a real encounter with Jesus, who owns the world and us, as Solomon realized it’s all vanity that does not satisfy, Paul in Philippians 3:7-9 said that those things that seemed profitable to him he considered it a loss.

As a true believer in Christ we know that Jesus has gone to prepare a better place for us. Our goals and focus should shift from lust to trust, from want to not just living for now, but to live forever – eternally. Just as how we prepare for life on this earth, we should prepare for eternal life by making the necessary choices to ensure that our names are written in the lambs book of life as Luke 10:20 tells us we should not rejoice about earthly accomplishments, but that our names are written in heaven. Is your name written in heaven?

Luke 9:25 asks, “What advantage or profit is it to a man if he gains the world and lose his soul.” Then Hebrews 2:3 wants to know, how shall we escape God’s wrath if we neglect so great a salvation? In Deuteronomy 30:15 He set before us two choices to choose from life or death, good or evil, and He advises us to choose life. What did you choose?

So as Paul tells us in Philippians 3:10 our goal should be to know Jesus Christ, His experiences and the life power that He posses and gives to us in Luke 10:19. Paul encourages us to forget the past and look forward towards better things in Christ with Christ. So our goal is to press toward the prize of the high calling of God in Christ not earthly riches or desires which profit nothing.

John 14:6 tells us that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life and no one goes to God except through Him. He is the perfect example of how to live for God and how to please God successfully. He demonstrated to us how to use and exercise our God-given rights while on this earth. So why are we as Christians so weak and earthly minded. Why are we anxious for anything when all Jesus did was communicate with our heavenly Father through prayer and practice Philippians 4:6 by letting God know His request.

Whenever the enemy brings fear to us we must always remember 2 Timothy 1:7, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.” Then we must apply the power or activate the power Jesus gave us in Luke 10:19 to tread upon serpents, scorpions and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt us. David said in Psalm 56:3-4, whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You – referring to God. In the Bible there are so many scriptures that assures us that God is our refuge, strength, help and everything. So why do we allow the enemy to plant doubt and fear in our mind.

Yes, it’s normal for the person who does not believe in God nor His Son Jesus. But as a born again Christian you better apply the Word like Jesus did in Luke 4 and let the enemy know that though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death we shall fear no evil because God is with us as Psalm 23:4 says; His rod and staff comforts us, which are His implanted Holy Spirit when you accept and believe in Jesus’ death, resurrection and His Word in the Bible which has documented all of His promises. Fear should never be a factor in the life of a child of God because Jesus made us more than conquerors as Romans 8:37 points out to us. It’s only when we trust God, that fear will never have dominion over us.

It’s when we look at the size of fear and not our God, who is bigger, that fear paralyzes us. When we start to think of how we are going to handle the problem we fail to give it to God  who cares for us and  is able to handle the problem as Psalm 55:22 and 1 Peter 5:7 tells us. Instead, we do the same thing He tells us not to do in Proverbs 3:5-6 and that is  lean on our own understanding instead of just trusting Him.

So as children of God when trouble, fear, heartache, pain or anything else that’s not of God comes your way instead of wishing you had wings like a dove to fly away as Psalm 55:6 says, let us renew our minds and follow and say what Psalm 55:11 suggests, “In God have I put my trust, I will not be afraid of what can man do to me?” The only person we should fear is God, who is able to destroy you completely (Luke 12:4-5; Matthew 10:28-31).

Luke 12:4-5 and Matthew 10:28-31 tells us that God knows everything, even when a sparrow falls; and we are more valuable than the sparrow. So why are we even fearful, because Psalm 91 tells us, He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High God shall abide under the shadow of the almighty and say that He is our refuge and fortress.

Accept the Lord today. Choose to believe that Jesus is alive! Believe that Jesus died for our sins and that God has raised Him from the dead. Go to the Salvation page for further instructions.

There is a borderline between greed and contentment and many people are on the borderline. They allow covetousness, which originates from the lust of the eyes, flesh and the pride of life, to cause them to never be satisfied or contented. People who always want more than the average are not ambitious but greedy, because if your basic needs are met which is food, shelter and clothing, then anything else is luxury. If you already have a car that is in good condition and working, a house to live in that is warm and comfortable, and you never lack a meal why are you trying to get bigger and better if you can’t afford it.

Most Christians fall in the greedy category which makes them borderline Christians which Revelation 3:16 describes them as lukewarm, and warns them that they will be spit out. 1 Timothy 6:6 tells them that Godliness with contentment is great gain. Greedy folks have more to lose. But Christians should be content because the God we serve will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19), which means there is no reason to be greedy because we are connected to the source and supplier.

Another thing is that people fail to realize that when you die, you can’t take anything with you as 1 Timothy 6:7 point out to us. So what’s the use of working and fighting to accumulate all these earthly goods that will go to someone who may not even appreciate your efforts. Our love, greed, cravings, and desires for money to get things has led many people away from God as 1 Timothy 6:7-10 informs us.

1 Timothy 6:6-19 tells us how to be and not to be when it comes to money and wealth. It was not meant to be hoarded or worshiped, but to help us and others survive. The love of God will allow you to give generously to others who are less fortunate and lack. If you can see a fellow human being lacking but you don’t help them the love of God is not in you. This is what 1 Timothy 6:17 tells us — to be rich in good works, ready to give and share with the less fortunate.

Lord, Help me to be generous in my giving.

God knows everything about us. In Jeremiah 1:4 He tells us that He knew us before we were born. Then in Jeremiah 29:11 He tells us that He knows the thoughts He thinks towards us, thoughts of peace and not of evil – the Philippians 4:7 kind of peace that surpasses all understanding – plans to give us a future and a hope, where you will call on Him and pray to Him and find Him when you search for Him with all your heart. This proves that God knows you and everything about your past, present and future.

In Revelation 2:2, 9, 19 and others He warns us like He warned the churches; He knows our works. However, as  Christians walking and operating in righteousness He not only knows our works, but our tribulations and poverty, yet we are not poor we are rich, through Christ Jesus. And He knows the people who are fake Christians because He knows the heart and intent of people who claim to be Christians and are not, He knows their works and it is that of Satan.

God is telling us in Revelation 2:10 that we should not fear anything that will come against us that will allow us to suffer, we must remember that 2 Timothy 1:7 tells us that He did not give us a Spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind. The power we have is what Luke 10:19 says, the power to tread upon serpents, scorpions and over all the power of the enemy. In John 16:33 Jesus reminds us that it’s only in Him we will have peace, in the world we will have tribulation, but we must be cheerful because He has overcome the world and have made us more than conquerors  and nothing can separate us from the love of God (Romans 8:31-39). If God is for us who can be against us.

God knows us so we better know who we are and who we belong to. In Revelation 2 verse 10 and 11 God says we will be tried and have tribulation in ten days, but we should be faithful unto death then we will receive the crown of life. He that overcometh shall not be hurt by the second death.

Trusting in God’s faithfulness and His word to protect us and guide us, He will protect and keep us through anything and everything.

Remember no weapon formed against us can prosper and when the enemy comes God raises up a standard against him to let him know the battle is not ours it’s the Lord’s . Hebrews 13:6, Psalm 91 and many other scriptures tells us that God is our refuge, strength, and help.

In Matthew 5:44 Jesus tells us to love our enemies and do good to those who despitefully use us. In 1 Thessalonians 3:12 Paul prayed that the Lord will increase and abound our love for each other and establish or make our hearts blameless in holiness before God, our Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. God not only wants our hearts, but all of us as Romans 12:1-2 says; to be holy and acceptable unto God. From our head to our toes we need to be pure.

When Jesus returns, He will be looking for us to be spotless as Ephesians 5:27 says, “That He might present it to Himself a glorious Church, not having spot or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.” Remember we are the Church not the building. That’s why Ephesians 5:15-17 tells us to walk circumspectly not as fools, but as wise redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore be not unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.” And His will is what Romans 12:1-2 tells us, and that is to stay holy.

Contrary to popular belief, to remain pure and holy you have to love God above self and the things of this world to want to obey His word and His will above everything else, which will generate the right relationship with Him so that you can hear from Him. You have to be a Proverbs 3:5-6 person who trusts and acknowledges God and does not lean on their own understanding or interpretation.

1 Thessalonians 4:3-8 tells us that God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness. Therefore we must sanctify ourselves and abstain from sexual immorality. If you lead any of God’s children astray, watch out God is going to deal with you.

I like the saying of Annie Johnson Flint: “His love has no limit, His grace has no measure, His power no boundary known unto men; for out of His infinite riches in Jesus He giveth, and giveth and giveth again.”

There is a song that says, “I am not forgotten, God knows my name.” Sometimes we need a song to remind us in our night seasons and valley experiences that God promises never to leave us or forsake us. He knew us from before we were born. Therefore, it’s when we are going through the valley of the shadow of death we shall not fear any evil because He is with us and His rod and staff will comfort us. The Holy Spirit — the comforter, and His Word which is a lamp to our feet and a light unto our path.

David and Jesus both felt forsaken so they asked the Lord, “Why hast thou forsaken me?” (Psalm 22:1; Matthew 27:46; Mark 15:34) but they both knew differently. In Psalm 13 David, like most of his Psalms, felt the pressures and struggles of life, where his enemies seemed to be striving and prospering, but even though he felt forsaken and forgotten he asked God a series of questions, like most of us do from time to time, “How long will you forget me? How long will you look the other way? How long will I be in anguish?” But God doesn’t want us to ask questions, He wants us to repent of our wrongs or sins and trust Him so that He can restore us. How long you wait to do this is up to you. If you keep murmuring and complaining instead of repenting, praising and thanking then you will be forgotten; murmuring and complaining can destroy you (1 Corinthians 10:10).

David was a man after God’s own heart, he knew which buttons to press to get God’s attention in verses 5-6 in Psalm 13. He said, “I have trusted in your mercy, my heart shall rejoice in your salvation, I will sing to the Lord because He has dealt bountifully with me.” Does that sound like a man who doubts God? Not to me. Yes, he was impatient, but his hope, trust, and confidence was in God because he had experienced God’s grace, mercy, love and compassion time after time. This is why in his writings or memoirs, David didn’t depend on anyone to uplift him, He said, “I will encourage myself in the Lord.” – 1 Samuel 30:6 At another time he said, “I will lift up mine eyes to the hills from whence cometh my help? My help comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth.” – Psalm 121:1-2

When it seems like all hell is breaking loose and your back is against the wall don’t look at yourself and its weaknesses look at your God, His power and might that takes over when you are weak.

Our agony and pain, in what looks like defeat and failure, will turn to joy when we look and cry out to God, the only One who never leaves us, never forsakes us and never abandons us; even though we abandon Him.

There are certain things that the Lord hates, things that are an abomination to Him. Proverbs 6:16-19 describes them as: A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil, a false witness who speaks lies and one who sows discord among brethren. If these are part of your life then the love of God is not in you. These are the things or attributes of the devil. If we read Proverbs 6:16-19 again we see that the fruits of the Spirit, which Galatians 5:22-23 describes as love, joy, longsuffering, peace, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and self-control, are not part of the list of things the Lord hates. Anything God hates the child of God should hate also because we are made in His image and likeness. His characteristics, traits and DNA are in us and when we are washed in the blood of the Lamb our sins are washed away and we become new creatures. Therefore our old ways that Daddy (Father God) hates, becomes new and are fashioned after the things of God.

God hates those things because it’s sin. Therefore, it sends a foul odor up and kindles His wrath because He made us to be like Him, and He is loving, kind, compassionate and as Numbers 23:19 tells us He does not lie and those of us who are like Him, we hate liars.

God tells us what He hates and then advises us to keep His commandments (seen in Exodus 20) which shows how we should live in righteousness. God’s commandments place us and keeps us in the right path. Jesus came to save us through cleansing and showing us that it is possible to obey and live by the commandments.

God’s commandments are warnings to protect us and preserve us until Jesus returns. Remember we are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise who comforts and guides us into all truth.

In Acts 15 we see that the apostle Paul assisted others before he himself became the great preacher, teacher, evangelist and apostle that he was. What I love about Paul is that wherever he preached or taught and the people received and accepted Christ, he did a follow-up to make sure that they were okay and on the right path. Paul continued in confirming and strengthening the churches through visits and letters.

As ministers of the gospel of Jesus Christ we can’t take for granted that everyone is on one accord because there are so many false prophets and teachers who lure people away from God’s truth to the devils lies. Sadly, most new converts don’t drink enough milk of the Word in the early stages of their new birth to strengthen them as they grow, in order for them to be developed enough to receive the meat of the Word.

This is why the Bible encourages us in 2 Timothy 2:15 to study to show ourselves approved, a workman that need not be ashamed of God or His word and is able to divide it rightfully in the proper place revealing its truth. However, in verse 39 of Acts 15 we see a disagreement that leads to good, because it did not stop the desire and zeal of Paul, nor Barnabas in going their separate ways. Yet, when following the path of righteousness sometimes these things happen for the furtherance of the gospel, because, we may be hindering or hampering each others growth and progress. This incident between Paul and Barnabas proves that we can disagree on one thing, but agree on the truth that the Gospel must be preached regardless of our personal feelings. However, their calling was different; Barnabas was a pastor, but Paul was an apostle.

May people would say that Paul was callous and unforgiving when Mark chose to depart from them in the beginning, but Paul had the discernment of the Spirit to know that Mark was not ready to take on the task ahead until later on in 2 Timothy 4:11 when he requested him because he was seasoned in the meat of the Word. Which proves again that men look at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart, which never lies.

Companionship is the key to success in everything because Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 tells us that two are better than one. If one falls, one will lift the other up. A true help mate lifts you up when you fall. Remember also that two cannot walk unless they agree.

Not every case does the son turn out to be like the father; Solomon is proof of this. Once the Lord exposed David’s sin, David was on his knees seeking forgiveness, but Solomon, who started out seeking and acknowledging God for everything, strayed when he started to hang out with the wrong people. That’s why Psalm 1 says, “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the council of the ungodly,” because if you do, sooner or later you will be like them, and as the saying goes, “Birds of a feather flock together.”

It’s amazing that after all that God has done for us and after all the love He has poured out on us, that we would love anything or anyone above Him. When things are going good most people forget where they came from and the God they served to get to their destination. Once they get to their destination they leave Him behind. But God’s first commandment in Exodus 20 has not changed and will never change, “Thou shall have no other gods before or besides Me” is what He said. Therefore, if you love women more than Him, then you broke His first commandment and the wages of sin is death or loss of everything – body, health, spirit, wealth, and daily bread. Don’t mess or play with God.

Solomon, as brilliant as he was, allowed himself to be defeated and depleted by the enemies of God; he was actually sleeping with the enemy and that exposed and crippled him. Which proves that God will have nothing to do with you if you live in sin and refuse to change. God will warn you more than once and give you a chance to repent before His anger is kindled and He acts as 1 Kings 11:9 shows us.

If people or things are going to capture your heart so much that it takes you out of the will of God, then you must avoid them. Unfortunately, we all have weaknesses, but God says when we are weak that’s when He activates His strength in us so that we become strong. Solomon allowed the wrong spirits to penetrate God’s protective mechanism and it led to his down fall. Today we have no excuse because 1 Corinthians 10:13 tells us that God always provides an escape route for us to flee. Unfortunately, Solomon, as smart as he was, did not take it. By this he lost his father’s inheritance, his and his children’s inheritance. But God was still merciful because of David’s service and dedication to God.

God knows us so much after so many experiences with His children in the past that’s why, He said, all have sinned and fall short of God’s glory.

What a sad end for a brilliant man, when God gave him a chance to end well.

Romans 8:35 – 39 tells us nothing can separate us from the love of God. So it means Solomon chose to separate himself and it cost him.

Walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise (Ephesians 5:15)

(1 Corinthians 10:12) Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.
